A morning accident in Harrisonburg has sent one person to the hospital, damaged a utility pole and shut down both northbound lanes of South Main Street near El Charro, in the 1500 block.
The accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. and involved a Chevrolet Venture. The condition of the driver is not available.
Harrisonburg Electric Commission responded to secure a damaged utility pole.
Police report that the northbound lanes will remain closed for the next few hours, if not longer.
Emergency personnel check a child safety seat located in the van. No child was found.
