It’s been a while since posting here, but I wanted to make anyone interested aware of a recently completed project. I’ve released a book titled Wildlife: A Photographic Record of the Shenandoah Valley that is now available for ordering. It was a year-long project that I’m very proud of.

Two people have been hospitalized following a late night attack in the Harrisonburg.

This week in weather

This week in Rockingham County, showers are expected this evening into tomorrow before a brief break on Wednesday and Thursday. Heading into the weekend, a chance of showers resumes. Temperatures are expected to average in the mid to low 40s with lows near 30.

Friday evening, Reginald “Shay” Nicholson of Staunton, 19, the victim of the Nov. 9 shooting in Harrisonburg, died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The Harrisonburg Police Department has announced that the latest suspect involved in the Bradley Drive shooting on Nov. 9, Ricky Parrish of Ruckersville, 21, has turned himself into police custody.

He is charged with assault and battery by mob and gang participation. Continue Reading »

Today Harrisonburg is expected to host a special visitor, acting U.S. Surgeon General Steven Galson.

Galson is scheduled to visit James Madison University this morning to present the “Champion Award” to the JMU Girls Golf Program, a collaboration between JMU’s Morrison-Bruce Center for the Promotion of Physical Activity for Girls and Women, Mulligan’s Golf Center and Lakeview Golf Course at a 10 a.m. Board of Visitors meeting.

The award is in recognition of work by these programs for the prevention of childhood overweight and obesity. Continue Reading »

This week in weather

This week in Rockingham County, a mix of sun and clouds are expected to dominate the skies. High temperatures are predicted to range between the mid 30s to mid 40s with lows mostly in the low to mid 20s. A slight chance of snow showers exists today in the Valley.

On Friday, Harrisonburg Police announced that they have arrested the suspected shooter in the November 9 shooting of Reginald “Shay” Nicholson, who remains in critical condition.

Zackery Turner of Charlottesville, 18, has been charged with four felonies – aggravated malicious wounding, use or display of a firearm in commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm, and discharge of a firearm in or around a school. If convicted on all counts, Turner faces up to life in prison.

Monday afternoon, a fifth suspect was identified by the Harrisonburg Police Department. Ricky Parrish of Ruckersville, 21, is wanted for assault and battery by mob and gang participation.

According to a release by the Harrisonburg Police Department, three people from Ruckersville have been arrested in connection to the shooting in the 1300 block of Bradley Drive.

Those arrested on charges of assault and battery by mob as well as gang participation are Gregory Baker, 20, Jahmaine Faqiri, 18 and Demonds Parrish, 19. Faqiri has also been charged with brandishing a firearm. Continue Reading »

This week clouds and thunderstorms are expected beginning Wednesday. Over the weekend partly cloudy conditions are expected with a slight chance of snow on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach the high 50s with lows in the mid 30s.

A shooting over the weekend is currently being investigated by the Harrisonburg Police Department.

According to HPD Public Information Officer Mary-Hope Gangwer, police responded around 3 a.m. Sunday morning to a shooting in the 1300 block of Bradley Drive. Continue Reading »
